Sweden–Vietnam maritime cooperation advances through high-level visit
A high-level Vietnamese maritime delegation, led by the Vietnam Ministry of Construction, visited Gothenburg and Stockholm as part of the Sweden–Vietnam Port & Maritime Initiative.

The delegation included major port operators and investors such as Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) and GELEXIMCO Group, representing significant ongoing and planned investments in Vietnam’s port infrastructure.
The programme featured strategic meetings, site visits and technology showcases at the Port of Gothenburg and the Port of Stockholm. A key milestone was the signing of four MoUs and cooperation agreements during the Sweden–Vietnam Conference on Smart, Green Port & Maritime Transition.
Swedish participants included industry, finance and research actors contributing expertise in areas such as sustainable port development, digitalisation and maritime technology.
The visit reflects a growing momentum in Sweden–Vietnam relations, with a shared focus on innovation, sustainability and resilient maritime infrastructure.
The collaboration continues, with a follow-up engagement planned in Quy Nhon, Vietnam, in September 2026.
