Sweden’s 2025 Export Prize for Cultural & Creative Industries winner: Hazelight Studios

Hazelight Studios, the internationally acclaimed video game developer founded by Josef Fares, has been awarded the Swedish Government’s Export Prize for the Cultural and Creative Industries 2025.
The prize was presented by Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa, recognising the company’s strong global impact and contribution to Sweden’s export success.
Hazelight is praised for combining artistic creativity with commercial success, reaching millions of players worldwide. “The cultural and creative industries are one of Sweden’s strongest assets internationally. Hazelight is a prime example of how Swedish entrepreneurship can succeed globally,” said Dousa.

Fashion brand Hodakova, founded by Ellen Hodakova Larsson, received this year’s “Rising Star” award. The label has gained international recognition for its distinctive design approach, transforming unexpected materials into high-fashion pieces worn by global celebrities. According to the jury, Hodakova represents a new perspective on sustainable and creative fashion with strong export potential.
Other nominees included Green Furniture Concept, designer Gustaf Westman and actor-director Josephine Bornebusch.
The award underlines the growing importance of Sweden’s cultural and creative industries, where around one in ten Swedish companies operate and export levels are significantly above the national average, positioning the sector as a key driver of innovation, competitiveness and global engagement.
