Africa Day in Stockholm highlighted growing business opportunities across African markets
More than 250 participants gathered in Stockholm for Africa Day, marking the launch of the first Africa Business Forum.

Africa Day underscored the importance of regional cooperation and long-term partnerships across the continent. In Stockholm, the focus was firmly on business, highlighting high-potential sectors such as energy, infrastructure, fintech and trade. The event brought together 22 African ambassadors, Swedish companies, investors and policymakers to strengthen dialogue and explore concrete partnership opportunities.
Strengthened dialogue between Sweden and Africa
The forum enabled direct engagement between key stakeholders from both regions. Among the participants was Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, signalling strong political commitment to deepening economic ties.
The initiative was led by the African Ambassadors Group in collaboration with partners including Impact Hub Stockholm and TradeMark Africa. Ecosystem actors such as Norrsken also participated, alongside Swedish corporates, SMEs and investors exploring opportunities in African markets.
Business Sweden contributed as a partner, supporting engagement and facilitating connections between Swedish and African stakeholders, aligned with Team Sweden’s mission to strengthen international business opportunities.

A series of sector-focused roundtables brought together companies and experts across:
- Energy
- Infrastructure
- Digital and fintech
- Agriculture
- Industry
- Creative sectors
These discussions identified concrete collaboration opportunities, investment areas and market entry pathways for Swedish companies.

As African economies continue to expand, opportunities for Swedish companies are increasing. At the same time, success depends on strong local partnerships, market understanding and long-term engagement.
Africa Day in Stockholm demonstrated both the interest and the potential for deeper collaboration between Sweden and African markets, providing a platform for dialogue, insights and actionable next steps.
