Team Sweden’s delegation to Texas, led by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria and Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard, completed a focused two‑day programme in Houston and Austin, advancing Sweden’s collaboration with one of the world’s fastest‑growing economies.

Houston: Innovation, life science and expanded Swedish presence
The visit opened at NASA Space Center Houston with discussions on advanced space technologies and new avenues for Sweden–US collaboration. During the visit, Minister Stenergard signed the US‑led Pax Silica Declaration, strengthening international cooperation on secure supply chains, emerging technologies and resilient digital infrastructure.
At Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest medical complex, the delegation met leading institutions including MD Anderson Institute for Data Science in Oncology, Portal Innovations and the TMC Venture Fund, gaining insight into Texas’ capabilities in R&D, data‑driven healthcare and next‑generation therapies.
The day concluded with a reception marking the inauguration of Sweden’s new Consulate General in Houston. A strategic milestone for Sweden’s presence in the region.
Austin: Entrepreneurship, scaling and investment pathways
In Austin, the delegation visited Capital Factory, meeting startups, entrepreneurs and companies such as Firefly Aerospace and SenseEye. Discussions with Texas Economic Development & Tourism at the Texas State Capitol highlighted new investment pathways and areas where Sweden and Texas can accelerate joint innovation.
Roundtables and breakout sessions brought together startups, corporates and investors to share perspectives on scaling, commercialisation and opportunities in the Texas innovation landscape.
