Sweden and India deepen trade and investment ties
Mid June, Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Mr. Benjamin Dousa, welcomed India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, to Stockholm for a three-day official visit.

The programme included the concluding session of the Sweden–India Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific Cooperation, co-chaired by the two ministers. Trade, innovation, and sustainability were high on the agenda, alongside discussions on expanding bilateral trade relations and reviewing progress in the EU–India Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
Engagement with the private sector was also central to the visit. The ministers met with leading representatives of the Swedish and Indian business communities, including through the India–Sweden Business Leaders’ Roundtable (ISBLRT) and the High-Level Trade and Investment Policy Forum.
The visit underscored the strong momentum in Sweden–India relations. As Minister Goyal stated: “This is the right time in history for Europe and India to come together”.
